Just a quick note...Went to the local animal shelter and just looked and wished. (Remember - I live in a 'no pets' park.)
There were so many precious dogs and cats there. I wanted all of them! The ladies who showed us around were so nice and understanding. I explained our situation and promised them I would do whatever I could to help find homes for these animals. Some were there because the owners couldn't afford to care for them. Others had been abused. One dog in particular had a split ear and what appeared to be cigarette burns. They all seemed happy there, but anxious for any affection they were given (which was mostly from the workers). The shelter was clean and the housing was more than adequate, BUT IT WAS NOT HOME.
Just think of all the unconditional love you could receive from adopting a pet who would be your friend for life. All they want is to be loved and cared for (just like we do).

A shelter near you is waiting for your visit. (it would be kind to take a donation with you).
