Sorry I have been lagging behind with my blog. Things are changing again...and we are sooooo busy. 'Doing what?', you ask!
We have received notice that our contract will not be renewed. That means that we are losing our job (like many of you) and along with that our home (also like many of you). You see, we manage a mobile home park, and as compensation we have a home on sight with all utilities furnished. Now, we are on the search for our 'holy grail' - a place to live.
Within 3 counties there are so few places that we can afford. The ones we can-are not available. I spoke with someone from an organization here. She said that they don't even have shelter space available for anyone without children. That gives you an idea of how the economy has hit the renters and other non-homeowners. (If you didn't already know!)
We are not feeling sorry for ourselves because we believe that 'all things' are happening for our good. We'll be fine. But what of the others who aren't fine? What can we do to help?
I'm not sure that all of us are in a position to do much, but if you are, please help. For the rest of us, pray for them. Depression is overwhelming many of the 'suddenly poor', so if you have the opportunity, encourage them.
Perhaps you have time to donate by working in a food bank or serving food to the homeless. Be creative about how and when...and then make it happen! You'll feel so good knowing you helped.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself (That means with the same compassion and at the same time as you love yourself - how about NOW)
