If someone is kind or helpful in any way - praise them because everyone needs a pat on the back once in a while.
How many times have you had a negative experience in a restaurant, retail store, etc.?
Did you complain to the manager? You probably received some compensation or at least a serious apology.
How many time have you had a positive experience in a similar situation?
Did you speak to the manager? You probably received a 'thank you for telling me'.
Recently I needed to rent a carpet cleaner. The first person I spoke with (in a grocery store) said 'yes' we rent them, and named the particular brand. I asked if it was a steam cleaner. He answered no, and we don't have any available. Call back later. 'CLICK' and the connection was gone.
The second store I called (a large building supply chain store), I was transferred to an operator who in turn put me on hold... forever! I hung up and called back to try again -NO SURPRISE -transfer to 'O' and on hold for another forever.
The third try I immediately spoke with a customer service person (in a competition building supply store) who answered my questions and gave me the phone number of the store closer to me. I thanked her profusely and called the local store.
The local store customer service person answered the phone, gave me her name and pleasantly answered all my questions except one "Is it a steam cleaner?". She said she was pretty sure, but she would check for me if I could wait just a minute. I realized she was busy so I asked her to call me back at her convenience and gave her my phone number. She did ... within 5 minutes with a definite answer for me, and directions to the store.
When I arrived at the store, I asked for her by name. She was with a customer. I dealt with another very helpful associate and completed the transaction.
I spoke with the original person (that I spoke with on the phone) telling her how much I appreciated her friendliness and willingness to do whatever it took to help me. Then I spoke with her manager telling her of the young lady's friendliness and willingness to go out of her way - and because of her I would fill my shopping needs at that store.
Amber - thank you very much. You are my customer service hero!
Jasmine - thank you for completing my transaction with a smile. You are my cashier hero!
Tammy - thank you for your immediate attention, not knowing it was for a positive comment and praise of your associates. You are a 'super manager'.
