GO ALL OUT

Are you consumed with the "holiday hurry"? How about the "gift indecision" or "decoration doldrums"? I feel all of these and more! I'm tired of being tired, having a brain-strain and seeing only white lights! I think this might be affecting my Christmas spirit!

A few days ago I actually took time to look at the lady "ringing the bell" in front of the store. She was bundled up against the cold, her scarf pulled over her mouth, and she was saying Merry Christmas with her eyes. (Ahh - a pleasant moment. I remembered when the Salvation Army group came to our street corner, playing their instruments, singing their songs and telling the children (of which I was one) about God. A very happy memory indeed. )

On the local news that evening the anchor man made a plea for The Salvation Army. They are having to pay people to ring the bell. " Volunteers are needed." I can't imagine Christmas without the the bell ringers, and I can't imagine them having to hire "volunteers". I'd thought about ringing the bell. I could make time. SO, YES I WILL.

Consider the red kettle. If you would like to volunteer, please do. If you have some spare change, drop it in.

Just as pertinent, practice smiling with your eyes. When you have mastered the talent, use it frequently. Yours may be the smile that makes someone's season merry and unforgettable.
