I have a memory that I can't reconcile. Can you help me?
When I was very young, maybe 4 or 5, I visited with my family in New York for Thanksgiving. After dinner my cousins and I were dressed like "hobos" and allowed to go to the neighbors houses "begging". We would ring the doorbell and ask for something to eat. The one who answered the door would bring us cake, candy or pie ( any type of dessert ). We would eat some and take the rest home. We couldn't carry much, so our begging was short lived.
I believe this was an annual event similar to Trick or Treat, but without the Trick part.
Does anyone have a similar memory or did I dream it all.? If you remember anything like this please e-mail me at: 2maketheworldhappier.gmail.com
Oh, by the way, I hope your holiday was as happy as mine.
