MOM'S DAY

A short biography of my mom:

Professional singer in the 'roaring twenties'.

Wife of 45 years, stay at home mother of 2, grandmother of 8, and great grandmother of many and still counting.

Girl scout leader for 30 years.

Got driver's license at age 52.

Started to work at age 53.

Hospital Auxiliary in 2 different hospitals - mail worker and knit baby caps for new borns.

Sunday school teacher.

Awarded Band Grandparent of the year (at the high school attended by her grandsons) for her service in the concession stand.

After the loss of her husband, she lived with her sister until ill health separated them.

Alzheimer's took her away slowly but she kept her smile.

Died peacefully at the age of 90... me at her side, reminding her of the joy and love she shared, singing 'Amazing Grace' to her.

There are very few days that I don't think of you and miss you.

THANK YOU MOM. I LOVE YOU... AND SO DO MANY OTHERS.

If you knew Mom and want to comment, PLEASE DO. I would love to hear what you remember.

I always think about her too, and remember that smile she had until the end. I remember going to pick her up at the nursing home and driving her around just so she could listen to the oldies and take a nap in the warmth of the sun.

Thanks for remembering.

She got her best sleep in the car...and always appreciated the drive.

Thanks for sharing! There are so many things I didn't know about her. She was singer in the "roaring twenties?" That's awesome! I wish I could have known her more, but I do cherish the time I was able to spend with her while volunteering at the nursing home.
