[I know my faithful followers are out there... now you can let me know who you are ------->>]
I do remember being young. (that's the easy part - remembering what I ate for lunch yesterday is a different story).
My husband and I were talking about how some older folks seem to go through a sort of self indulgent, snippy stage. They feel entitled because they have lived this long. For example: my mom used to leave her shopping cart in the middle of the aisle. I asked her why she did. Her response was "I'm old enough to leave it anywhere I want and they can just go around it".
I think I know why this happens - It's the going backwards thing!! They are in their second teens, heading for their second childhood!!
I do remember my teens, ugh! I was a spoiled brat who never considered anything past the end of my nose. I don't think I had enough sense to feel entitled, I just didn't think at all!
It was all - ME, ME , ME. I wasn't necessarily selfish; I was self centered.
The whole point of this blog is that most of us go through these stages. We learn as we go. Some of us have the opportunity to learn earlier than others. Somewhere, someone brought to our attention the reality or truth of a situation, and we adjusted our attitude. So, maybe we can be a little more patient with ourselves and others (no matter which way in life or which stage they are going through).
We all learn to define ourselves by what we are not....one situation, one lesson at a time.
