If you lost your home, your job (your only income), all of your belongings (including all those items that held precious memories), and had to transplant to a different state to live with another family until you found a job and place to live, it would be very difficult to list your priorities. They would all be #1!
Instead, how about listing what you have now; your life, your family and friends, the ones who cared enough to take you into their home, your faith, etc....and an opportunity to choose your direction.
Many before you have been through losses and have survived and thrived.
Just a small example: A family of four were without a job and money at Christmas time. The children were both under six years old. With the $5.00 they had left, they had a family meeting and decided they would draw names and purchase a gift. The challange was that each was given $1.00 and had to buy something useful for the name they drew. The second challange was that they would compete to spend the least amount of their dollar. The children had so much fun searching, trying to spend as little as possible. They shopped all the way up to Christmas eve. You can imagine the gifts; a box of safety pins, a yard stick, a blue pen, and a set of magnets; all wrapped carefully in newspaper.
It was a happy holiday filled with laughter, lots of love, and wonderful memories for all.
If you don't believe me...just ask my children.
