START COUNTING

Have you been noticing how many people are rude? Have you noticed how many drivers take foolish chances with your life? Have you noticed how many children are undisciplined?

We count and 'recount' them every day. But recently I notice more people who are kind and considerate. I notice more people driving safely. I see well behaved children and teens with good manners. Is there a shift happening, a new awareness? Or, is it me - am I counting the beneficial, helpful acts instead of the detrimental, harmful acts. Could it be that I am shifting and become more aware; more aware of the damage I do to myself when I pay more attention to the negative than the positive.

As an act of kindness to ourselves, let's count and recount the positive we see. Tell your family of these experiences. It makes great 'dinner table' talk. Instead of "what did you do in school today?", share these experiences. If they made you feel good, they can do the same for others. Then, maybe this will shift their attention to the positive too.

I guess it's just another way of counting our blessings.
