Why does the holiday season always come at the same time as the "Funky Sickness" season or vice versa? We are bombarded with flu bugs, colds and assorted viruses.
Why do I mention it? Because I am still rebounding from a bout with a viral infection. "What does this have to do with acts of kindness" you ask. Hopefully I can remind you of and impress upon you some basics.
For yourself: wash your hands - the same way you would want your doctor to wash; palms, backs, fingers, nail beds and nails. Think of how the children in school are taught to wash the whole time they sing "Happy Birthday" (all the way through). Try it. Sing out loud (especially in public). Maybe it will give you the chance to explain, and cause someone else to wash longer and more often.
For others: If you don't have a tissue or you don't have time to use one - sneeze into your shirt at the crook of your arm, not into your hand. That area of you arm comes in much less contact with everything. Take your germs home with you, and wash that shirt as soon as possible.
These kindnesses will make the season brighter for you and others.
