ROAD OUT"RAGE"OUS

So little time and so many cars in the way? Who had the right of way? Why is the traffic light giving a green to the road with no cars? Oh great, stopped for the train? Afraid to make eye contact with another driver or honk the horn for fear of retaliation? WE'VE LOST CONTROL.

Look at the big picture. We are all in this together. When our right of way is usurped, that Ford is not responsible. It's not the Toyota at the tracks waiting for the train to cross. My point - we're people, all in the same position, behind the wheel of a heavy machine that can injure, maim, and even kill, or just transport us without incident.

When the situation called for a response, Mom used to say "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
Maybe I wasn't the "JERK". So?? Did it accomplish anything to lean on the horn and sneer at the culprit? Sure, I pointed out his rudeness and made it public. Made me feel better! Made him angry! Maybe, he was late picking up his child from school because he was stopped for the train. Worried that the child was waiting alone on the sidewalk, he cut in front of me trying to hurry. He may have made a serious mistake. The pressures of our fast paced lifestyles cause us to do foolish things. Instead of cursing him for his error, I could wish him safe passage. My husband uses Florida's previous slogan "ARRIVE ALIVE".

I like to look at the driver next to me at the red light and imagine their life. It helps me remember that we are together in this madness; falible mankind, doing the best we can with what we have.

How can we NOT wish us all well!
