A BRIGHT SPOT

Last weekend we went to a '75th year' birthday party for a relative.  What should be a 6 hour drive ended up an 8 hour drive, in the pouring rain until, about 1/4 of the way we decided to stop for breakfast.

It was so good to sit without a windshield in front of me. (Although the chair wasn't as comfortable as the van seat.)  We ordered and the food came after what seemed forever. My order was not right. It was returned to the kitchen and brought back the same way, then returned again. The server blamed it on the system in the computer. The manager came out to tell us that it was 'the way the ordering process was on the computer'. Still no food. Meanwhile my husband finished his meal before mine showed up. I decided to go to the rest room and wash my face and hands while I regrouped. The sink top was covered in water and when I leaned against it, my shirt got wet. I got a few paper towels to wipe it up. While in process, a lady came to the other sink. "The counter top is a flood, be careful not to get wet." She agreed and nodded. As she left,  she said with a sweet smile, "Have a wonderful day". At that moment, her kindness brought tears to my eyes, and changed my whole day.

When I arrived at my seat there still was no food. I told my husband I was going to look for the lady and hoped she was still there. She was sitting with a friend talking after they had eaten. I excused myself and thanked her for being "the bright spot in a gloomy day". She asked my name, took my hand and smiled again, that beautiful, happy smile that said she cared. Just looking at her made me feel peaceful.

Somewhere out there you are still spreading joy. If you are reading this blog, I thank you again for your gift.

If only we would be the ''bright spot'' in some one's gloomy day, and share our gifts of kindness and caring.
This is my prayer and my goal.
